Cyanotype Moonscapes February 2023
I wondered whether I could create some moonscapes using last years sketches and the cyanotype process with mixed media.
Starting with white oil pastel I went out into my garden on a sunny day and tried to follow my sketches onto sheets of white hand made paper. This meant I could not really see the exact marks I had made. I then used a wet cyanotype process in the sky area and painted some cyanotype in other areas with a brush.
Once this was dry after a few days I used various mixed media to create other effects and textures on the paintings back in the studio.
As with any experiments there were some successes and some failures. I love this game of chance with mixed media. The four images featured here I felt worked well.
St Ives Harbour and Scafell Pike are both large 69cm x 101cm
St Micheals Mount and Penzance are 41cm x 51cm
